Farid’s HeleStory

  1. Why did you choose to work at HeleCloud?

I worked at Olindata which was acquired by HeleCloud in 2019.  I originally joined Olindata, because I knew the CTO at the time, and he thought I’d be a good fit for the company. I joined the team fresh from university and was well respected by my peers and the leadership team.

I decided to stay at HeleCloud after the acquisition because I enjoy my work and the technical challenges that our customers present to us. Collaborating with my colleagues to find solutions to these challenges is fun. Additionally, everyone I work with is super smart and inspiring.

  1. Tell us a bit about your role at HeleCloud

I work in the Professional Services department, where we provide a wide range of AWS infrastructure-related services to our customers. We do everything – designing and architecting, reviewing existing workloads, optimisations, automations, migrations and setting up new workloads.

  1. Why DevOps?

I used to be a software engineer. However, as time went on, the exciting opportunities that came my way where more Cloud infrastructure related, so in a sense – DevOps chose me!

  1. How has HeleCloud changed over the years?

We have grown significantly in a short period of time, and as result we have access to better internal tools and more bright and inspiring colleagues. The benefits that HeleCloud offers such as training and development opportunities, has also greatly improved due to our exponential growth.

  1. What do you like about working in an international company?

As an expat I prefer international companies where I am working with professionals from a diverse mix of cultural backgrounds. This makes me feel that I fit in more and provides me with the opportunity to learn more about different cultures.

  1. What motivates you to go the extra mile?

I find it extremely rewarding resolving technical challenges that come my way, as it provides a great learning opportunity. It also keeps me engaged in my work.

  1. How has HeleCloud contributed to your professional and personal development?

Thanks to my team’s encouragement and interesting projects I’ve worked on over the past few years, I’ve acquired many new skills that are useful, both in my personal and professional life. I now have many AWS certifications, had the opportunity to speak at conferences and attended many events & workshops, all of which gave me valuable insights.
